grease that navel

winters sometimes can be excruciating too. of some other minor irritations that they bring, chapped lips is one of the foremost for those people with dry skin like mine. i have always been unhappy with the utter distaste that the cracks on the lips bring.

but this time a very ingenious solution helped me out of this problem which has plagued and ruined pleasures of youth whenever it could :D

the solution is to grease the navel. now, it might sound a little corny but it is purely a baba ramdevish - easy and effective [with no side-effects ;) too] one.

for details don't forget to write to me like you always do ;) :D

we are still as unsafe

there is no point crying hoarse about deplorable security measures even after such a tragedy striking us. you can not really check and frisk and scan each and every citizen who goes in to a mall, a departmental store, a railway station, an airport. there are millions of footfalls there. especially, when you do not have any security implementations on the macro level.

it is like you are letting drainage seep into fresh water lake and then hopelessly trying to find ways to avoid fresh water lake adulteration.

there is no point of increased local security if:-

1. dawood is still living a normal life there, as is his family here
2. pakistani trawlers are still roaming our waters with much disdain
3. we are still being spat back on our faces when we ask pakistan to hand over the criminals
4. audacious threats are coming in the form of 16 terrorists still free, targeting delhi
5. eastern borders are still as porous

let those buggers rot in hell

everyone across the social setup maintains one thought and i am sure many people would be supporting it in their hearts - that these murderer terrorists do not belong to any religion.

i say if that is the case then their would be no guideline on whether or how they should be cremated.

then i think their dead bodies should be hung in a open place, very much visible to the public eye - to rot and to be eaten by vultures.

i am very sure it would elicit responses from those quarters which need to be exposed in the first place

stop terrorism

some outcomes are visible of the deceleration of government to seriously clamp down on terrorism. i hope that all these continue and gather steam as it roll and not loose steam. some visible steps are:-

1. home minister's, chief minister and deputy to the chief minister's resignation [and acceptance of two of them]
2. prime minister's commitment to define steps and strategy within 100 days
3. finance minister's change of role

although we would like to hear steps such as:-

1. nab all the terrorist's associated with the planning of this one within 100 days
2. destruction of all terrorist training modules in kashmir and other parts of country before this year end
3. sealing of porous borders in east with immediate effect
4. formation of single point of contact agency to counter terrorism under central government which will interact with defense staff, intelligence bureau, raw, state police and governance before year end

some of these points in wishlist might sound improbable but until and unless we want to crack these at war footing, it would surely fizzle out this time too

and i don't blame english or australian or any cricketing teams from deciding against traveling to india now. if i as an indian do not feel great enough to go out shopping for diwali, i certainly can't expect their folks to be willing of letting them go.

another attack on mumbai [india] today

it has been around 2 months since bombs rocked delhi. and today mumbai. and there were talks of having a federal agency then? whatever happened to it?

and the politicians are giving same dumb template replies to the questions in the media. would there anything be done about it? would there be any proactive steps? would it take half a dozen politicians to be dead before they do anything or would just brave officers and innocent citizens continue to be murdered?

please guys, ask for votes, but stop these bloody terrorists.

india & pak - where are they headed?

in an extension to my last post, i was wondering yesterday evening, even when the educated masses want peace between india and pakistan, and uneducated masses want their respective bread, what exactly is making friction last?

why can't money dissolve the issues here? india and states were not on very friendly terms while india-pak war of '71. but now the power of money [read outsourcing] is such that even the new president elect has back-tracked on his manifesto.

then why can't money heal the india-pak difference. it can. but the point is some forces might be against it.

i have not researched in depth at all. just picked up some tokens of information from webpages of india and pakistan on cia's website. and my observation goes:-

one of the top import products for india is chemicals which is one of the top export products for pakistan. one of the top export products for India is petroleum products which is one of the top import products for pakistan. but none figure in the top importer or exporter list of either.

let alone these, there is a huge traditional trade potential, for example bollywood and tv [saas bahu sops], tourism in northern india & pakistan and industries which i can't imagine or fathom. and market potential/risks run in bilions of rupees [probably dollars]

so why would those who are currently exporting worth billions of dollars to india and pak want them to choose each other as trade partners [which probably would be cheaper because of proximity in terms of distance and culture, hence costs]? and then there are industries as big as arms and ammunition which are at risk losing a huge market in case of peace between the two countries.

the act of maintaining equilibirium

the problem is, it seems, that those of us who commit crimes are not directly reprimanded for those crimes. instead others seemingly innocent of our lot get punished.

you must have noticed the badge that i have on the blog since last few days. it refers to the seal hunting and carnage that goes on every year in canada. some bloody assholes bludgeon little seals, some of which are not even months old, to death. And it is not illegal. this is not just atrocious but barbaric.

and i guess people are starving in somalia, getting blown away in bomb blasts in iraq, and drowning in floods in bihar for the sins committed by some motherfuckers in canada.

the nuke deal - india wins!?!?

someone asked me "is se kya india ko fayda hoga?". was referring to the NSG waiver that india got earlier

the problem is that it isn't as black and white as we would wish it should be.

i have two unanswered question from all this deal saga:-

1. why in the dear world is america so interested in "india's good"?

2. why is no one trying to speak anything about alternative sources of energy? even when every one knows that the fuel provider group is even smaller? we are coming from begging gcc and going to beg some even smaller set.

in the honour of a hero

thanks to spicy, i am posting about something that is close to my heart and about someone who was [is] an absolute hero.

~~

i was watching steve irwin in the afternoon and me and mom were hooked to the tv like we used to

it is sad that i didn't know that it was being aired probably in his memory

although shattered would be an exaggeration, but we were all shattered, as shattered as you could be when you come to know about the death of someone you do not know [in person] but still love

i have always been moved more by the condition of animals that humans or anything in this world. if ever i would be responsible enough to actually do anything worthy then i would work something for wildlife/animal conservation. but steve was a hero, to the core.

[this was addressed to spicy] i have seen the sting ray cartoon and it is one of the most moving thing.

thanks spicy, thanks for it. and i would be posting this comment on my blog as a post. hope you won't mind :)

~~

i have posted the above text originally as comment to spicy's post but because i feel so much for the animal world, and in honour of a person who was almost above normal humans, in stature, i am re-posting it here.

like spicy said, he did what other humans [like me] brag about.

the farmer

hari happily turned down the offer from a big corporation who wanted to gobble-up his land for peanuts [well golden peanuts, to be honest]. he'd been promised double the loan for the upcoming crop season by opposition party for agitating. he wasn't really dumb like other farmers but he didn't know he was being duped.

~~

today's papers were flashing headlines about tata threatening to pull out of singur. i personally don't favour nano or any other small car that would threaten to break the traffic sanity and add to already smog filled situation. i am not sure if the farmer is going to be benefited. i see 3 cons here:-

1. arable land shrinking
2. farmer going unemployed
3. further environmental imbalance

but i still think we should be going towards green surrounding not grey.

does anyone here love this country?

i am enraged.

just for cheap publicity, people who have got some visibility in this country, would go to any lengths.

arundhati roy is of view that "kashmir needs azadi from india". i want to understand when she said this what was she trying to be:-

a - an indian
b - a pakistani
c - a kashmiri

not certainly a, because every body understand the designs of evil pakistani leadership and ever shrewd chinese leadership and it would be worst for India to have its land exposed, which is now safeguarded by the inhuman siachien terrain and technically uneasy upper kashmir

not certainly b, because she would have then said that kashmir needs to be the part of pakistan

not certainly c, because she would have then thought about a poor kashmiri farmer who just wants to sell his apples and be at peace and she would have asked for peace [which had nearly returned to the valley - one of my uncles and one of my closest friends holidayed there in the last year and felt good] and better standard of living for themselves to make money either from apples or tourism.

so what is she trying to be? a bitch? but then she can't be even that because they are a loyal species.

learning the language

[written on the evening of the day before...]

yerterday i bought the hungry tide by amitav ghosh, the climb by anatoly bourkiev and the wonder that was india by al basham. i wanted to buy the world without us by alan weisman, the age of consent by george monbiot and the cartoon history of the universe [can't recall the authour, sorry] volume 8-13 [i already have the amazing volume 1-7 :D].

although i asked prashant, impromptu, if he knew the seasons or months in hindi calender and reprimanded him of his ignorance, i actually was rebuking myself about it. asked momma to help me learn the hindi seasons first thing this morning. and here is my progress [please consider the dialect]:-

chait
baisakh
jaith [mixedup the serial]
ashaad [mixedup the serial]
sawan [mixedup the serial]
bhaadon [mixedup the serial]
kwar
kartik
aghan
poos
mah [asked mom]
faghun [asked mom]

i guess our hindi calender starts from our hindi new year which is near about march of the english one.

started the hungry tide, and when one of the protagonists mentioned that he knew 6 languages, i considered my knowledge of the two i should claim to have fair knowledge of. the one that is my mother tounge is also the one that should bring me to shame the most. i can't claim to read a page of fine text without not comprehending half of the words. actually i believe i can't write half a page of good hindi which would have more range of words than those that we use for functional understanding.

and english which should be one of the fastest evolving language in the world at this moment, i wonder if i know even 10 percent of the words from the complete lexicon.

concoction of problems and issues stated, now the resolution - i should be buying and reading hindi literature [with sound technical language] too. let me see if i would need to buy hindi-engish or technical hindi-simplified hindi dictionary next :O

we are all going to

we are all going to die. no matter how pessimistic it sounds - it incessantly comes to the fore. although i have been repeating this phrase to prashant less often than i was doing in the other set of days. but listening to the rain, the sounds that he-cloud and she-cloud are making while having wild sex in this season which is not really meant for their mating ritual, i wonder how rapidly is it all changing [coming to an end]. i still remember, not as far back when i was in grade 8, we used to have virtually frozen fingers while starting to write our mid-terms. they used to be in november. and these days [those absolutely chilling and lovely] winters come for just 2 weeks, probably 3 if we are lucky - that too as late as january? in matter of a decade we have seen a near seasonal collapse. seasons which were taken for granted a decade back sound textbook ideals now. more and more natural calamities [south east asia couple of years back; united states, france last year; myanmar, china this] are happening with disturbing frequency.

anyways, problem stated, now let us state the solution - switch off those lights, walk more than you drive, abhor wood furniture, have sex on floor

and i shall be optimistic and instead think about having more unseasonal and impromptu sex like these guys above ;)

for those uninitiated, sex on floor means less detergents seeping and mixing into underground water :D

enjoy :D

begging = meals, or not!

problem with sad stories is that they bring you too close to the reality. sometimes life is great fun, even if for not a huge amount of time. you get involved in the merry making and then you realize that, for example, all the crackers that you blew were made by some poor kid in south india which were ruining his hands and life for probably half complete two meals.

but now you are back to the dilemma. now that the crackers are gone, do you keep burning the crackers and hope that the kid at least gets the two half-meals or abhor the crackers and save his hands while probably risk his legs which might be cut by the devil who wants him to look as miserable as possible while making him a genuine beggar.

such nearness to perfection

i have been to the middle east and south east asia. and more than getting the answers, i have got question(s) [about SEA at this moment], which arise from following observations:-

1. flawless skin [and its generous display]
2. gorgeous legs [arty calves]
3. made to order hair [just on head, of all the visible anatomy]
4. naturally petite [but not anorexic]

and something not provided as physical character:-

5. fashion sense [that make you feel like you're living in some fashion-stone-age]

question:-

1. although such near to perfection, is there anything that makes them not-perfect?

this is for those who love

the animated movies [this is the last part of the title of this post]

i was googling for a list of animated movies when i landed on a page that had my eyes wide open. it listed hundreds of animated movie titles in chronological order; since they were started to be made in 1940s [and earlier]. and i thought there would not be movies more than a count of 40. i was even more surprised to see that the first animated movie from india [with japanese co-operation] was made in 1991 [unsurprisingly, it was about Ramayana].

but the whole motive behind this post was to write about a new movie - just a couple of stills of the movie have me smitten. the title is "horton hears a who". and time's review has spared nothing to praise it. all the more reasons for me to be excited and eager to watch it.

i have always watched an animated movie on my last three work related travels - although the last time i wasn't really able to see one and was fucking pissed off because i started ratatouille and those headphone went dumb.

guests

it saddens me and it enrages me at the same time when i read news such as that of scarlett keeling, the british teen who was raped and murdered but reasons such as

she was a kid
she was raped
she was a guest to the country [although this doesn't really matter to a huge number of people how our country's reputation is marred. hockey, for example; gill says he has nothing to do with the defeat - i guess he has only to do with making money]

i am enraged whenever i read news about mishaps with foreign tourists. i believe most of the tourists come with a certain beautiful imagery of our country and although most of that imagery might be corrupted the moment they land here, they still love it in some or the other way, if they decide to stay. what i hate is when they are violated by the crooks that roam the roads.

in school i read a story where the narrator visits and japan and standing on a platform exclaims to himself which goes something like, japan is great but i couldn't find good fruits there. within some moments a japanese gifts him a basket of fruits and requests him not to say the same thing about his country when the narrator returns back.

this is what i want should happen to the tourists. if they decide to stay, they should be treated as guests those in ideal india would be treated.

the dilemma of the recent times

a familiar unannounced digging exercise in the middle of the main road led me to a revelation that would soon become my one of the most serious dilemmas of recent times.

the revelation - no amount of oxygen inhaled in the morning run could match the pure oxygen that you get when you drive through the kilometer long stretch in front of the amity campus [i wonder if they have 80% of the seats reserved for girls].

the dilemma - i have now got into serious energy saving mode [at least to the point i could stretch]. some things that i now try to do all the time are:-

1. walk to places i could avoid driving
2. read electronic versions instead [read about energy-saving]
3. switch off lights and devices
4. considering buying a car [whenever] by looking at its impact on environment [even if at the cost of comfort or style]

please, do tell me if you know of some way to save energy that i missed above...

now coming back to the dilemma, when that main road is fixed i would need to drop that babe-stretch :(

how hot would it be?

no one has commented on the post which i did before the last one. i mean i thought that was funny and socially relevant too, if not important. i wonder what people think and expect.

anyways...,
sitting here i just took off the vest that i had on inside the tee, i felt too warm to still have it on and be comfortable. so i took it off. and i still am feeling warm and thus i wonder what people everywhere are wondering. how hot would it ultimately be... i mean before we die roasted on roads or before it leads to some dire catastrophe which will save us from roasting but not save us from dying.

if you are a delhite, then what do you think how much maximum temperature would you be able to see in your lifetime?
