the nuke deal - india wins!?!?

someone asked me "is se kya india ko fayda hoga?". was referring to the NSG waiver that india got earlier

the problem is that it isn't as black and white as we would wish it should be.

i have two unanswered question from all this deal saga:-

1. why in the dear world is america so interested in "india's good"?

2. why is no one trying to speak anything about alternative sources of energy? even when every one knows that the fuel provider group is even smaller? we are coming from begging gcc and going to beg some even smaller set.

1)america has this contagious and powerful demanour in the world ...thats why after their little coaxing the other countries who were defending, recluctantly agreed. as far as the reason why america is doing this is to balance out china's mega economic revolution with india's growth. years ago they did the same while russia was gaining momentum to wipe out their dominence in this part they started supporting china....thats how america play thier game !
2) looking at the need of fuel and power rising exponentially i cant think of any better way than nuclear revolution ....not only is the power generated relatively better than the conventional sources , the effiency is good as well . as far as the begging part goes .you have to get from outside if you dont own it .whether the oil or uranium face it!

1. regarding games, let's not speculate. let us stick to the facts for the moment. i am guessing here that you haven't heard that india is poised to import $100 BILLION worth of stuff after this deal from US alone in just next 12 years.

2. you probably can't think of better ways because you have not read the bestseller "heat" by george monbiot and then you would realise how "good" nuclear power is

i was very pro-nuke deal till it struck me that the us of a is being surprisingly pushy about this. i wonder why? call me prejudiced perhaps.
and i read this great article which advocated solar energy as an alternative source. which makes much more sense for india since we get so much of sunlight!
this has become a bit of a prestige issue for the govt, i guess.

solar energy is an option but doent have the reliability of the other form of energy for mass production
america is not the only country we are gonna shop from !
let us all witness to see whether the nuke deal is boon or a curse as you put it
only time will tell!
