does anyone here love this country?

i am enraged.

just for cheap publicity, people who have got some visibility in this country, would go to any lengths.

arundhati roy is of view that "kashmir needs azadi from india". i want to understand when she said this what was she trying to be:-

a - an indian
b - a pakistani
c - a kashmiri

not certainly a, because every body understand the designs of evil pakistani leadership and ever shrewd chinese leadership and it would be worst for India to have its land exposed, which is now safeguarded by the inhuman siachien terrain and technically uneasy upper kashmir

not certainly b, because she would have then said that kashmir needs to be the part of pakistan

not certainly c, because she would have then thought about a poor kashmiri farmer who just wants to sell his apples and be at peace and she would have asked for peace [which had nearly returned to the valley - one of my uncles and one of my closest friends holidayed there in the last year and felt good] and better standard of living for themselves to make money either from apples or tourism.

so what is she trying to be? a bitch? but then she can't be even that because they are a loyal species.

Agree on that. Nothing is done without a personal benefit invovled...but I would rather prefer to call Aamir Khan's (& his counterparts') presence as 'publicity stunt' rather than term Arundathi or Medha Patkar's strugggle as one. These people have literally sat there...did hunger strikes..been arrested, yet have stuck to what they believed in.

We need to remember that we are talking about a state that has been the victim of Shabarmathi express episode and Best bakery cases - a direct victim of political stunts...I am not saying there is no publicity factor involved, all I am saying is they have struggled to reach there, and I don't think it has come easily.

sam - i won't comment about others and i even have not really researched about how did roy reach that conclusion [about kashmir], how much time did she spend there but i have a comment from a farmer's mouth just a week old, who actually saved life of a friend who was visiting srinagar. those people just want peace, not azadi or anything such world shattering.

and then i was having a word with a colleague who is from assam. he was saying about sensitivity of such comments for north east. he was of view after this at least 5 states there would want azadi

hudd hai yaar !!!

I was sad reading about whatever is happening in Kashmir over that land dispute... from where I see it, its such a non issue which has now graduated to more of a Hindu-Muslim Thing and now a Kashmir needs independence from India bullshit !!!

too bad :(
