buying furniture in noida
it is a dissatisfying experience, if not an unhappy one, looking to buy a coffee table in noida within sane budget.
it seems that the designers think that there are only two types of buyers
1. with money
2. with no idea what decency is
if i am someone who wants to buy a piece of elegant furniture, with a simple design that is not soliciting mucus all over it the moment you have a look at it, for a price that is within 25% to 50% [as profit] of its cost price here in noida then you are insane.
if any of you can suggest some good furniture shop in noida for a middle class buyer like me [budget - 5k, for a coffee table] then please do give me its address

1. lets not call them designers ! copying designs from the 100s of interior designing books ( remember the badai and the family sitting inside that bookshop?) does not make anyone a designer !
2. I thought you need a centre table and not a coffee table ! are these two different? I am confused ! Why two different names?
2 - as far as i know, although the difference is near invisible but coffee table is what i am looking for
Maybe look at the old, restored furniture shops.. there must be a Behrambaug equivalent in Delhi?
But I like old furniture.
go to wood market, buy some plywood, gum and all the other paraphenelia required for making a table
catch a carpenter
sit with him and drill the design in your mind into his head
keep watching the progress of the work
You have a coffee and i bet it will be within your budget
Sorry abt the typo
austere - there must be just that i ain't aware. but somehow i think i won't really love them...
anony:-

Try MG road if you can, you'll get awesome stuff there, or to be more specific World Bazaar.. :D

samy - MG road, most of it closed or over-expensive
arunima - will ask you when and if i am there
When i was in NOIDA there used to be many shops in ATTA or sec 12, which were reasonable, why not get it from Panchkuia road delhi? 5K is enough for a coffee table, u will certainly get it there.
Nice blog...glad to visit it!
