don't stop talking
i was writing a comment on >chakoli's< blog regarding advent of internet and telephones and their impact on the way we communicate which inturn goes a long way in impressing on our personalities.
the problem with either telephonic or internet based communication is that we only communicate via one sense - voice. other senses [expression, touch, mannerism] which are as important, if not more, are missing from the 'communication'. thus it is very hard to convey to a person on the phone or chat or through blog comments if you were being funny and not at all sexist or offensive.
plus it is very hard when people are touchy and defensive [like i am]. if something has hit your sensitivity then i guess you should not get defensive by refraining from communicating your concern, but try to communicate about it and get it resolved.

ooh this is something that has happened to me.. happnes all the time on chat actually.. when you type out stuff there is no way the other person can figure out if you are being funny/serious/ are upset/annoyed...etc the emotional aspect of the conversation is compeltely cut out.. and it can (and occasionally does) lead to unnecessary confusion.

Internet and cellular phones have encroached our lives so much that we've somewhere forgotten to use our other senses and hence one must be cautious using words in the right manner..

I agree to evry point you said...
indeed...conversation of phone or internet...is something.... virtual.... where words simply means words.....
And we have to take this...afterall...this virtual world is one created by us:-))

i have a request for ya..can you do smething about the colour of your blog... or rather a certain part of your blog..the labels and comments written at the bottom of the post are kinda hard to read. they blend into the dark green.. either they really do or i have an eye problem!

churning - even i was wondering the same... lol, i changed the colour now that you confirmed, check it out and tell me if they are better now...
